Contract and bond deed between the cabido of the cathedral of Évora and João Mendes de Vasconcelos, membro do Conselho do Rei, by which the latter asked permission to erect a chapel in that cathedral, in which 150 annual masses would be perpetually celebrated and where his remains, those of his wife and their descendants would be buried. The chapel would be attached to the entail established by Teresa Eanes da Fonseca ("morgado do Esporão"), which he administrated. The cabido accepted this request, determining that João Mendes de Vasconcelos had to entail a rent to that chapel in order to support the celebration of the annual masses. If he failed to do that, the third part of his assets and of his wife's estate would be associated to that pious obligation.
Contains copies of a letter sent by the cabido to the King, his answer to the requirement and a letter written by the Cardinal. The contract was approved by D. Briolanja de Melo in 1528-07-17.
