Certificate of will of Simão Vaz de Camões, requested by the reitor and priests of the College of Nossa Senhora da Graça of Coimbra, issued by Domingos Pereira, escrivão dos resíduos, under the authority of doutor António Velho, provisor of the bishopric of Coimbra.
Contains a petition and a dispatch.

Chapel foundation deed

Chapel foundation deed by which Doutor Roque Pereira Tavares, representing himself and his wife, D. Francisca Rebelo, reached an agreement with the rector and officials of the College of Nossa Senhora da Graça of Coimbra to erect there a chapel, thus fulfilling the will of Simão Vaz de Camões, his wife's first husband. The institutor's remains would be deposited there as well as the bodies of his successors. Roque Pereira Tavares entailed properties in Montemor-o-Velho and olive groves in Coimbra to it. The subsequent administrators of the chapel were obligated to pay, each year, 24 000 réis to that college to support the celebration of a daily perpetual mass and to help maintain its state.
It is referred that Simão Vaz de Camões had initially ordered his wife to establish a chapel in the new church of the convent of S. Domingos of Coimbra, but since the construction of the building was not finished after 40 years, Roque Pereira Tavares and Francisca Rebelo decided to change the chapel location. Contains a copy of a letter of attorney.
Followed by letters of possession (dated from 1610-12-28, 1610-12-30 and 1610-01-05).

The sentence condemns the defendants, recognizing the authors as legitimate administrators of the chapel.

Declaration deed

Declaration deed by which D. Francisca Rebelo declared that she had ordered the construction of a chapel in honour of Simão Vaz de Camões in the church of Nossa Senhora da Graça of Coimbra, due to the fact that she had been unable to reach an agreement with the priests of the church of Salvador. As such, she determined that a daily perpetual mass should be celebrated in the chapel of S. José of that church. She designated her husband, Roque Pereira, to administrate the chapel and the entailed assets, except the farmstead of Lordemão, which she left to the convent of S. Paulo. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1609-04-30.

Will

Will by which D. Francisca Rebelo, Doutor Roque Pereira Tavares' wife, declared that her first husband, Simão Vaz de Camões, had asked her to erect a chapel in his honour in the church of S. Domingos-o-Novo of Coimbra. Since that building had not yet been finished, she determined that the chapel should be constructed in the church of Salvador, which would also serve as family mausoleum. She entailed to it lands in Montemor, olive groves in Vila Franca and Vale Cabreira and a farmstead in Coimbra ("quinta de Lordemão"). The testator designated her husband to administrate it, obligating him and his descendants to support the celebration of annual masses in that church. Followed by two undated declarations and an approval deed issued on 1593-09-11.
