Chapel foundation deed

Chapel foundation deed by which Pedro Afonso Painho, mercador, and Catarina Vasques, his wife, established a chapel in the convent of S. Francisco of Porto. Their bodies would be buried in the altar of S. Pedro and annual masses had to be celebrated there. The institutors determined that the pious obligations would be supported with the revenues of houses on Rua dos Banhos, Judiaria and Campo do Souto. They appointed Vasco Pires, Pedro's illegitimate son, as its first administrator.

Sentence by Diogo Borges, juiz dos resíduos, ordering the fulfillment of Pedro Afonso's will in the presence of Inês Álvares, his heir and administrator of the chapel.

Will

Will by which Pedro Afonso Painho determined that his body had to be buried in the convent of S. Francisco of Porto, in the grave he had built in the altar of S. Pedro and S. Tomé. He also declared that the revenues of his assets (houses on Rua dos Banhos, Judiaria, Campo do Souto) would support the celebration of a perpetual annual mass for his soul in that convent. He appointed his illegitimate son, Vasco Pires, to administrate the entail.
