Dowry deed

Dowry deed by which D. Isabel da Silva, António da Gama de Mendonça's widow, gave a dowry to her daughter, D. Maria da Silva, who would marry Luís de Saldanha, composed of a farmstead in Almada, public debt instruments of 100 000 réis and 50 000 réis, houses in Lisboa, a pension of 120 000 réis and moveable assets. She also committed herself to give 400 000 réis to the newlyweds one year after their marriage. D. Rodrigo da Cunha, inquisidor, the bride's uncle, donated rents (foros) in Vila Nova de Andrade, Lisboa, appraised at 500 000 réis to the couple.
In turn, João de Saldanha renounced the administration of the entail established by his mother, Madalena de Almada, designating his eldest son, Luís de Saldanha, to succeed him. That entail comprised the following assets: the farmstead (quinta) of Santo Amaro, Lisboa, lands in Azambuja ("herdade do Franquito"), properties in Salvaterra de Magos ("herdade de Albufeira") and lands (casais) in the outskirts of Sintra. João de Saldanha also donated his son a pension of 150 000 réis and his commandery of Salvaterra de Magos of the Order of Christ. After his father's death, the commandery of Alcainça would be inherited by Luís de Saldanha. Followed by letters of attorney.

Leonor de Meneses, his wife, accepting the entail's foundation deed and binding their available portions and reserved portions to that entail. D.
