Codicil

Codicil of Isabel Cabral, widow of João Álvares de Caminha, and Manuel de Caminha, their son, changing, revoking and adding some clauses to the entail foundation deed of Isabel Cabral. They change the clause regarding the illegitimate exclusion, allowing now the succession of natural offspring if there is not legitimate offspring, and clarify other clauses regarding the entails succession. Manuel de Caminha also entails all his properties located in the outskirts of Beja, already entailing seven of them, which belong to the reserved portion he inherited from his father, and ordering the elaboration of a tombo.

Entail foundation deed

Entail foundation deed by Isabel Cabral, widow of João Álvares de Caminha, with the remaining part of the available portion of her husband and with her own available portion, composed of her houses in Rua Nova, in Lisbon, which will be the entail's head, and her farmstead (quinta) in Romeira, in the outskirts of Almada, to her son, Manuel de Caminha, appointed as her successor. The institutor also orders that the entail's administrators will administer the chapel she built in the monastery of S. Francisco of Lisbon, with the pious obligation of a perpetual daily mass for her and her husband's soul. Manuel de Caminha was present and accepted this institution, being mentioned also as institutor.

Contains: approval deed, dated from 1577-09-17, and opening deed of a will, dated from 1583-05-30.

Will

Will of João Álvares Caminha da Veiga bequeathing some properties and money to buy properties to the entail founded by his mother, Isabel de Cabral, and his brother, Manuel de Caminha, which he administers. The testator also founds another entail, ordering his heir to build a chapel in the monastery of S. Francisco of Lisboa, with the entail's income, so the two entails will be separated from each other.
Will approved in 1615-07-18 and opened in 1621-10-24.

Will of Isabel Cabral, widow of João Álvares de Caminha, bequeathing 5 000 cruzados, from her available portion, to the entail she founded with her son, Manuel de Caminha, approving it. She also bequeaths her farmsteads (quintas) of Nossa Senhora da Luz and Pombal, in the outskirts of Almada, to Simão de Caminha and João Álvares de Caminha, her sons, entailing the first one to a chapel, with the pious obligation of two annual masses. Her farmstead of Romeira, in the outskirts of Almada, entailed to her entail, will have the same obligations of the farmstead of Nossa Senhora da Luz. The testator also declares that the entail's administrators will be the administrators of her chapel of Espírito Santo in the monastery of S. Francisco of Lisbon.
