Codicil

Codicil made by Ana Ribeiro Ferraz in which she disposed that if João Pereira Vinagre, first administrator, did not wish to become a clergyman and rather married and had children, those children would succeed on the administration with the same conditions. The institutor ordered that no administrator could ever marry with a person of the so-called "infected races".

Ferraz, Ana Ribeiro (d.1698)

Will

Will by which Ana Ribeiro Ferraz, wife of António Pereira Vinagre, expresses her wish to be buried in the cathedral of Portalegre. She establishes an entail composed of farmlands and houses she possessed, with a perpetual obligation of ten masses celebrated every year. The institutor named João Pereira Vinagre, her stepson, as first administrator during his lifetime, with the condition that he would become a clergyman and, after his death, he would be succeeded by his brother António Pereira Vinagre and from there on the succession should continue, preferably, on the eldest male heir. The administrators would be obliged to give two alqueires of oil to the brotherhood of Nossa Senhora do Rosário in order to maintain a lamp perpetually lit on this chapel.
