Codicil

Codicil through which Beatriz Leitão demands that the executor of her will should give, each year, 5 200 réis to the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa, in order to maintain the pious charges she instituted in her will. That amount of money ought to be extracted from the revenues of a property chosen by the executor.

Petition

Petition by Bartolomeu Leitão, João Gomes de São João's son, asking the Juiz dos Órfãos of Lisboa for an exemplification of an extract of his father's will. Followed by a dispatch by Sebastião da Fonseca Barreto, Juiz dos Órfãos of Lisboa, ordering the issue of the said exemplification.

Will

Will by which Beatriz Leitão, João Gomes de São João's wife, founds an entail, with the pious obligation of two weekly masses in honor of Nossa Senhora do Rosário and Santo António, in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. She bequeaths a third of her assets to her husband, who ought to decide which property was going to be incorporated in the entail, since he would be its first administrator. After his death, their eldest son should inherit it. She chooses to be buried in the aforementioned convent, in the same grave where lied her father-in-law, Francisco Gomes de São João.

Will (extract)

Extract of João Gomes de São João's will, by which he entailed two houses in Lisboa to the chapel founded by his late wife, Beatriz Leitão. He bequeaths them to his son, Bartolomeu Leitão, who should extract 5 200 réis from the houses' revenues to maintain the pious obligations in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. If the 5 200 réis were not enough to support the two weekly masses, the heir was only obligated to support the celebration of the number of annual masses which that amount of money could maintain.
