Bond

Bond by which D. Branca, minor, daughter of Jerónimo Correia de Almada and D. Beatriz de Freitas, her tutor, promises to pay the obligations of Maria de Almada's chapel, of which she is the administrator, using revenue from the houses already entailed to the chapel of Catarina da Silva, in the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa.
Maria de Almada established a chapel and entail with all of her properties. She bequeathed them to Jerónimo Correia de Almada, who was also administrator of the chapel established by Catarina da Silva. As D. Branca was heir of both these chapels, her mother, D. Beatriz de Freitas, requested that part of the revenue of the houses entailed to Catarina da Silva's chapel be used to pay for the chapel established by Maria de Almada. This request was, ultimately, accepted.
Contains sentence dated 1626-03-16 and other processual documentation, including two dispatches, dated 1623-08-04 and 1626-11-13, a petition, a termo de juramento and acceptance deeds. Contains an extract of the will of Maria de Almada, inserted in a certificate dated 1626-11-06.

Court proceedings

Court proceedings judging the autos between Paulo Soares, procurador das capelas, and D. Beatriz de Freitas, widow of Jerónimo Correia de Almada, and tutor of their daughter and heir, D. Branca. Paulo Soares had requested D. Beatriz to present the money she was owing from the houses entailed to the chapel of D. Catarina da Silva. These houses been inherited by Jerónimo Correia de Almada from his mother, D. Luísa da Gama, wife of Jorge Carreiro de Almada. D. Beatriz had answered that she didn't have to present that money, as she hadn't owed it, and instead it had been D. Catarina da Silva who owed it to Jorge Carreiro de Almada. As it had been proposed that the houses of D. Catarina da Silva should be sold to pay for this debt, which wasn't allowed as they were entailed, she requests that they should instead be also entailed to the chapel of Maria de Almada, to pay the debt, as both chapels were administrated by her daughter, D. Branca. Contains a petition demanding a bond to be written with these conditions, dated 1626-07-08 and a dispatch ordering it, dated 1626-11-13.

Will chart

Will chart by which Catarina da Silva, António Gonçalves de Gusmão's widow, founded an entail with the pious obligation of celebrating two masses, every week, in the church of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. She entailed her houses in Rua dos Escudeiros, in Lisboa, bequeathing them to her niece, Guiomar Cabeia. If her niece died before the institutor, the entail's first administrator should be, instead, D. Luísa da Gama, her other niece. She chose to be buried in the grave where lied her late husband, which was by the chapel of Santa Catarina de Siena, in the church of the said convent. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1589-07-06.
