Petition

Petition by which Manuel da Gama, moço do serviço da Câmara da Casa do Príncipe Regente, brother-in-law of Diogo Dias Lobo and husband of Catarina Lobo da Silva, administrator of the chapel established by her brother, having seen the títulos da fazenda bought by the testator of the institutor, who died in India, explains that they are not enough to establish the chapel or the obligations of which he is in charge. Because of this, he hasn't been able to pay the obligations for a year, for which the brothers of the confraria da Santa Doutrina of S. Roque are demanding him to give up the entail, according to the terms of the will. Manuela da Gama asks, then, for a sentence that tells him the amount of masses he can pray by "rateamento", with the money he currently has, so that the demand can be finished.

Gama, Manuel da (flor.1646-1673)

Sentence

Gama, Manuel da (flor.1646-1673)

Sentence

Sentence by which the quinta de Várzea do Moinho, in Odivelas, bought with the institutor's money, is entailed to the chapel of Diogo Dias Lobo.

Will (extract)

Will (extract) by which Diogo Dias Lobo establishes a chapel with the obligation of one annual mass for his soul in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. He appoints his sister, Catarina Lobo da Silva, wife of Manuel da Gama, as its first administrator, and her descendants afterwards, with the condition that she shall buy properties to entail with the remains of his assets. If his sister dies without descendants, or if the obligations are not fulfilled for a year, the entail shall be bequeathed to the confraria da Santa Doutrina of S. Roque, Lisboa.
