Contract and bond deed

Contract and bond deed between the friars of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa and Cristóvão Rodrigues Becares, by which the latter buys the usufruct of the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Guia, in their convent, which the Crown had confiscated to Pedro de Baeça, its former owner, for debts. He promises to pay anually to the convent 2 000 reis for its ornamentation and to order a weekly mass for the souls in Purgatory. He designates it as his family's burial place and entails to it his houses in Lisboa, in rua dos Cabides, passing these obligations to his successors. The document mentions an acquisition deed dated 1645-10-24, by which Cristóvão Rodrigues Becares acquired the chapel from Álvaro de Azevedo, who had bought it from Luís Vaz de Resende, who had acquired it through a public auction.
