Bond

Bond by which D. António de Almada, brother of D. Maria de Meneses, wife of Pantaleão de Sá, who was in India, and his wife, D. Vicência de Castro, as heirs of D. Maria de Meneses, entail their houses in Lisboa to the chapel she established. This chapel shall then pass to their descendants. D. Anntónio de Almada and his wife had been appointed heirs of D. Maria de Meneses by her father, D. Fernando de Almada, deceased. D. Maria had been buried in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, and had meant to entail a public debt instrument to her chapel. However, at the time of her death, she didn't have any public debt instruments, which led to the writing of this bond.

Contract and bond deed

Contract and bond deed by which the brothers of the Ordem Terceira da Penitência of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa pledge to pray a daily mass in the chapel of D. Teresa Ximenes, and another one in the chapel of D. Maria de Meneses. These two obligations had been entailed to houses which had belonged to D. Teresa Ximenes. These houses had been subrogated for a public debt instrument because they were foreiras to the entail of the conde de Santiago. D. Teresa Ximenes had established a daily mass for her soul and appointed her son, José de Almada, as her heir. Because her son had died without successors, the houses were inherited by the Ordem Terceira, who became administrator of both chapels.
