Mandate

Mandate by which Doutor João Fernandes, Provedor dos Resíduos, Hospitais, Capelas, Confrarias e Albergarias, orders the seizure of the farmstead (quinta) of Boição, Bucelas, which belonged to D. Henrique de Noronha. It is declared that according to Joana de Macedo's will, her husband, D. Henrique, was entitled to receive part of her assets, under the condition that he should donate it to the convent of S. Domingos de Lisboa before his death. Since he did comply with that request, the friars of the convent wrote a petition to the Provedor asking him to interrogate D. Henrique about this, after which he sent two officials to do it. During the interrogation, D. Henrique stated that he currently did not own any of Joana de Macedo's assets, for he had donated all his possessions to his nephew, Rui de Matos de Noronha. Followed by an auto de sequestro issued on 1574-02-17.
