Contract and bond deed

Contract and bond deed between the priests of convent of Nossa Senhora do Monte do Carmo de Lisboa and João Brandão, in his name and on the behalf of his wife, D. Isabel de Cunha. This couple received the chapel of S. Sebastião located in the church of the convent from the religious for their grave and for their descendants, agreeing the conditions and obligations for both parties. João Brandão and his spouse established a set of perpetual pious charges for their souls in this chapel, obligating for its fulfilment an annual rent paid in wheat, mortgaging for that a property in the outskirts of Azambuja and their houses in Lisbon. João Brandão’s parents, Duarte Brandão and Margarida Beamonda, were also buried in this chapel; his mother D. Margarida established her own pious charges in it, but the contract stresses that the chapel of S. Sebastião belonged to João Brandão, his wife and their heirs.
Followed by a consent deed of Isabel da Cunha, dated 1528-03-18.
