Bartolomeu Cristóvão; João Martins entail

Will (summary)

Will (summary) by which Bartolomeu Cristóvão establishes an entail with houses and lands in Lisboa, instituting the obligation of spending 5 libras each year on the acquisition of fabrics destined to be used in the making of clothes for poor people. He appoints João Martins, executor of his will, to be its first administrator, who would be succeeded by his eldest son. The institutor also bequeaths lands (casal) in Linda-a-Velha to his brother, João Cristóvão, obligating him and his successors to spend annually 15 libras on the purchase of linen and burel, which should be used in the making of clothes for poor people. After his brother's death, the properties should be inherited by Catarina Bacias and her descendants. João Martins, João Cristóvão and their successors are also obligated to support the celebration of annual masses for the soul of the testator in the church of the convent of Santíssima Trindade, where his remains would be buried.
