Bond

Bond by which António Lopes Soares asks his son, Manuel de Paiva Soares, to buy assets whose annual income does not exceed 24 000 réis. He should do that after his father's death, with the purpose of establishing an entail and using its revenues to support the celebration of annual masses in the chapel of S. Pedro of the church of S. Nicolau of Lisboa.

Contract and bond deed between Paulo de Carvalho, superintendente das obras e finta da igreja de S. Nicolau, Luís Fernandes Teixeira, procurador da finta e obras da igreja de S. Nicolau, Francisco Fernandes de Braga, tesoureiro do dinheiro da finta, and António Lopes Soares, Maria de Fonseca's husband, by which the latter buys to the former the chapel of S. Pedro for 80 000 réis. It is destined to become the private mausoleum of António Lopes Soares and his descendants, who are recognized as the chapel's owners and future administrators. The buyer is obligated to supply the chapel with all the necessary liturgical objects.

Petition

Petition by which Ana do Vale Soares, Manuel de Paiva Soares' widow, asks for his late husband's will to be authenticated. She states that, after being mortally wounded, her husband declared that his debts should be paid and that the public debt instrument he owned had to be employed in the celebration of annual masses for his mother's soul and for his own. He appointed his wife to be the administrator of the chapel, entailing to it houses in Lisboa. Followed by a dispatch issued on 1659-07-03 and an inquisitio of witnesses issued on 1660-12-27.
