Chapel foundation deed (extract)

Chapel foundation deed (extract) by which Afonso de Torres and Violante de Melo establish the chapel of Diogo de Torres and Beatriz de Castilho, Afonso de Torres' parents, entailing their third parts, which they had bequeathed them, and a public debt instrument of 50 000 réis. They state that they signed a contract with the priests of the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa in 1556 to have their grave in the new chapter house of the convent and to transfer the remains of their parents there.

Court sentence

Court sentence determining that the houses on Rua das Esteiras had sufficient income to be entailed to the chapel administered by Afonso de Torres, which had been founded by his grandfather, Afonso de Torres, in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa. The administrator should make a term declaring that he had entailed the houses and that he had obligated his assets to the fulfilment of the established obligations.

Petition

Petition in which Afonso de Torres, administrator of the chapel founded by his grandfather, Afonso de Torres, requests permission to entail the houses on Rua das Esteiras to the chapel. He was previously notified by the procurador das capelas de Lisboa and was ordered to deliver 2 000 cruzados to acquire a public debt instrument of 40 000 réis or to nominate properties whose income would reach that amount. Followed by a dispatch and the acquisition letter for the houses.
