Will (extract)

Will (extract) by which António Camelo and Maria de Sousa determine that, after the death of one of them, the other one must inherit all the couple's patrimony and use its revenues to support the celebration of 26 annual masses in the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo of Lisboa, where their bodies should be buried. If António Camelo survives his wife and remarries to someone else, the entail has to be inherited by his descendants. If that does not happen, it should be transmitted to Maria de Sousa, the testator's niece. In order to ensure that the pious obligation would always be fulfiled, the testators link it to a rent (foro) of wheat, barley and chickens in a property in Casével, Santarém, which could never be sold or replaced for another asset.
