Court sentence

Court sentence attesting the fulfilment of João Soares do Amaral's will and exempting Luís de Valadares Carneiro, the testator's son-in-law and heir, of presenting another account to that court. It was issued by a Desembargador da Relação e Mesa do Despacho Eclesiástico do Bispado de Coimbra.

Dowry deed

Dowry deed by which João Soares do Amaral and his wife Sebastiana de Moura donated to their daughter Dona Ana do Amaral all their assets located in Lisboa, Lousã, Rabaçal, Penela do Couto and Monte da Fonte in order to marry to Luís de Valadares Carneiro. The institutors also wanted to incorporate their thirds into the chapel of São José, in the Monastery of Nossa Senhora da Graça, in Coimbra, designating their future eldest grandson to be its first administrator. He was due to order the celebration of masses, using the rents of some houses located in Coimbra. Finally, the institutors' established that the chapel's administrator should give to Inês Monteiro de Moura, nun of the Monastery of Semide, 10 000 réis de tença. If the grooms did not live in the institutor's house, they should receive 100 000 réis each year.

Will

Will by which João Soares do Amaral, resident in the farm of Celas, Coimbra, declared that he wanted to be buried in his chapel of São José de Nossa Senhora da Graça. He also declared that his deceased wife and him endowed their daughter giving their thirds, which included their houses in rua da Matemática, with the obligation to order the celebration of masses in their chapel. He wanted to order the celebration of more three masses for the soul of Gonçalo Vaz de Campos. João Soares do Amaral designated his daughter Ana do Amaral and her husband Luís de Valadares Carneiro to be his universal heirs. Followed by a declaration deed and an approval deed dated 1650-05-31, and an opening deed dated 1650-06-01.
