Will (extract)

Will (extract) by which João Gonçalves de Matos and Maria Martins, his wife, establish a chapel in the church of S. Julião of Lisboa, to which they entail rents (foros) appraised at 30 000 réis in lands located on the outskirts of Lisboa. Its revenues would sustain a chaplain, who would be responsible for celebrating a daily perpetual mass for their souls. After the death of the surviving member of the couple, the chapel shall be administrated by Lourenço Gomes, sombreireiro, and subsequently passed to his youngest daughter, Isabel Pinto.
