Deed of sale

Deed of sale by which Francisco Mendes Trancoso and his wife, Guiomar Rodrigues de Tovar, sell to the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of Lisboa a public debt instrument set in the Alfândega de Lisboa, which shall partly be used for the fulfilment of the masses of the chapel of António Fernandes de Elvas, and partly for the masses for the souls of Mécia Lopes and of Francisco Lourenço.

Letter of quittance by which the priests of the convent of Santíssima Trindade confirm they have received money from Sebastião Luís da Horta, with which they bought a public debt instrument from Francisco Mendes Trancoso, to entail to the chapel established by Mécia Lopes. They declare they have started to pray the masses in 1599-12-03. They consider Sebastião Luís da Horta free of this obligation and authorize him to make his burial place in the chapel he bought, and to set an epitaph there.

Will (extract) by which Mécia Lopes orders a daily mass for her soul in the chancel of the church of the monastery of Santíssima Trindade of Lisboa, to which she bequeaths 30 000 réis of interest to buy properties to be entailed. She designates her nephew Sebastião Luís da Horta, as her universal heir, with the capacity of appointing the next administrator of her chapel.
