Bond

Bond by which D. Mariana Coutinho, widow of João de Brito Coutinho, trinchante do rei, fulfils the previous contract she made with the priests of the convent of S. Bento de Xabregas, by giving them the public debt instrument she had promised. They accept and promise to fulfil the obligations according to the contract.

Contract and bond deed by which D. Mariana Coutinho, widow of João de Brito Coutinho, trinchante do rei, receives from the priests of the convent of S. Bento de Xabregas the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, in their new church, to be her family's burial place. She establishes a daily mass for her soul and the soul of her mother, D. Filipa Coutinho, who had ordered 50 masses in the chapel of the Figueiredos in the old church of the convent. She also includes in this obligation the masses ordered by her aunt, D. Isabel Coutinho, also buried in the chapel of the Figueiredos. She orders the transfer of their bones to the new chapel and entails a public debt instrument of 30 000 réis in the Casa das Carnes, rents in Charneca and an inn to theses obligations.

Court sentence

Court sentence judging the will of D. Mariana Coutinho fulfiled and her properties annexed to her entail, which will be inherited by her son, André de Figueiredo Coutinho. Extracts of her will shall be given to the other people mentioned in it, namely her putative heirs Tomé da Silva and the priests of the convent of S. Bento de Xabregas.

Will (extract) by which D. Mariana Coutinho establishes an entail with her third part, consisting of farmsteads in S. Bartolomeu da Charneca, Lisboa, a casal in Almeirim and other properties, annexing it to her chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição of the convent of S. Bento de Xabregas, adding to its obligations giving a dowry to orphans every three years. She designates her eldest son André de Figueiredo Coutinho, as first administrator and, if he dies without successors, her criado, Tomé Rodrigues. They shall have the usufruct of the entail during their lifetime, and afterwards the entail shall be administered by the priests of the convent of S. Bento de Xabregas. She includes in this entail the obligations of the entail of her aunt, D. Isabel Coutinho, which shall pass to the future possessors of her chapel.
