Certificate of a will (extract)

Certificate of a will (extract) issued by Francisco Soares da Fonseca, tabelião, at the request of Martinho Vaz de Pina. Preceded by a petition and a dispatch issued on 1659-05-20.

Dowry deed

Dowry deed by which Beatriz de Mendanha donated assets appraised at 3 000 cruzados, including houses in Sardoal, and the legitime left by her late husband to Gil Vaz de Pina, her son, who was going to marry Margarida Manso Temudo. The latter revoked a document she had signed with her first husband. Jorge de Pina do Lago, the groom's uncle, declared that he had made a will in which he established a chapel with all his properties, designating his nephew, Gil Vaz de Pina, and Maria de Pina, his niece, to administrate it. He decided that Gil Vaz de Pina should administrate the chapel, to which was entailed the farmstead (quinta) of Torre, after the death of the institutor's wife, Catarina Chorra. Gil Vaz de Pina accepted this appointment.

Will (extract)

Will (extract) by which Gil Vaz de Pina appointed his son, Martinho Vaz de Pina, to succeed him in the administration of the chapel founded by Jorge de Pina do Lago, his uncle. He also established a chapel, entailing to it all his remaining assets. He designated his son to administrate it, obligating him and his descendants to support the celebration of 10 annual masses for his soul and to give, every year, 10 000 réis to Madre Beatriz Maria da Trindade, during her lifetime. The testator determined that, if his daughter, Sebastiana de Parada, and her husband, António de Azevedo, left no descendants, the farmstead (quinta) of Pousão and other properties which he had given them as dowry had to be entailed to his chapel.
