Court sentence

Court sentence by which the Juiz de Fora condemned the defendants to give up the properties entailed to the chapel administrated by Cristóvão Mendes de Eça and Filipa de Lacerda, his wife, and all the documents related to them. The defendant was also obligated to pay the court fees.

Dowry deed

Dowry deed by which Francisco Gouveia de Altero gave the administration of the chapel of Santa Catarina de Vila Rei, to which was entailed the farmstead that had belonged to Tomé de Gouveia Cardoso, his father, and the legitime left by his late wife to his daughter, D. Filipa Correia, who was going to marry Cristóvão Mendes de Eça. Isabel Pais de Barros donated 2 500 cruzados to her niece, D. Filipa, as well as all her properties and moveable assets. By doing so, she revoked the will written by his brother, Francisco Mendes, and her, in 1642. Cristóvão Mendes de Eça gave his approval to this deed, declaring that, if, at the time of his death, the couple left no descendants, 300 000 réis would be delivered to his future wife.

Entail foundation deed

Entail foundation deed by which Francisco de Gouveia Daltro, Isabel Rebelo de Macedo, his wife, and the licenciado Tomé de Gouveia Cardoso, his brother, abade da igreja de Santa Cruz da Trapa e beneficiado da igreja de Santiago de Beja, establish an entail uniting their parts of the farmstead of Vila do Rei, which the brothers had inherited from their parents, Tomé de Gouveia Cardoso and Vitória Borges de Figueiredo, and other properties they have. They declare their father had ordered the construction of an hermitage dedicated to Santa Catarina in that farmstead, with the obligation of three annual masses, which they entail to it. The entail shall pass to Francisco's descendants by appointment from him, his wife or Tomé. If the three of them die without making an appointment, the entail will pass to their eldest son or to the descendants of their sister, Maria de Figueiredo Gouveia, wife of António Cardoso de Castelo Branco.
