Martinho, arcebispo de Braga, declares that the properties he bought after the foundation of his entail shall pass only to Martinho Afonso, according to the institution, and that Fernando Martins shall have half of his money, which should be employed in the acquisition of estates.

Entail foundation deed

Entail foundation deed by which D. Martinho, arcebispo de Braga, donates to each of his criados, Martinho and Fernando, half of his residences in Lisboa and his chapel in the church of S. Cristóvão of that city, where he wishes to be buried. These properties should pass to their successors as an entail, with an obligation of employing a chaplain to pray for his soul. If one of them dies, the other shall inherit the full entail. If they both die without successors, the entail will pass to one of their sisters, D. Maria, D. Margarida or D. Leonor. He appoints João Martins de São Mamede as carer and tutor of his heirs.
Followed by a ratification deed.

João de Vasconcelos e Meneses, conde de Penela, relating to properties of the chapel and entail instituted by Martinho Afonso Pires da Charneca, in the church of S. Cristóvão de Lisboa, administered by D. Isabel, and also of an entail administered by the conde de Penela. All the real estate and rights that Martinho Afonso Pires da Charneca's entail had in Mafra were exchanged for the farmhouse (casal) of Tramagal, near Azinhaga, on the outskirts of Santarém, and several lands located in Alviela.

Tombo of Margarida Afonso's entail, administrated by João Mendes de Oliveira Miranda. It was made according to the order of the Provedor das Capelas e Resíduos de Lisboa. Contains copies of an extract of the institutor's will, which was already described in VINC000040 MAPC EA/003; of a partition deed of Diogo Aires' assets, Margarida Afonso's husband, and of various land measurement deeds made between 1572 and 1584.

Will (extract) by which Margarida Afonso, Rodrigo Afonso de Brito's wife, appoints Martinho Afonso, Arcebispo de Braga's son and her nephew, to be the administrator of her chapel, instituted in the church of S. Cristóvão of Lisboa. She bequeaths houses in that city to her niece, Branca Eanes, Afonso Geraldes' wife, obligating her and her successors to support the celebration of one annual mass for her soul and the soul of her first husband, Diogo Aires, in that church. She also leaves lands in Lisboa to her other niece, Leonor Rosa, with the obligation of celebrating annual masses in that church.
