Acórdão em Relação

Acórdão em Relação related to judicial process between the procurador da Coroa and the defendant Miguel Vaz Brandão, by which the chapel founded by Vicente Eanes in the church of Alcainça is found vacant to the Crown.

Acórdão em Relação

Acórdão em Relação stating that after the sentence against Miguel Vaz Brandão, the king made him the mercy of the administration in his life with a pension of 10 mil reis, with the obligation of fulfil the charges and finish the tombo. It mentions that the estate of the farm and the chapel were usurped by the prior of Alcainça, who leased the chapel to Miguel Vaz Brandão and the quinta do Arneiro and the Paço in Belmonte to his brother Lourenço Vaz Brandão, without fulfilling the charges. These leases were judged as null and thus it was declared that the administrations of the Quinta and the chapel are independent and vacant for the Crown (repealing the clause of a previous sentence which determined the Quinta do Arneiro as being attached to the chapel, by virtue of an old will that had no value). It was also ordered the apposition in the chapel of a headstone stating the pious charges now determined.

Administration letter

Administration letter on behalf of João Forjaz, escudeiro do rei and morador in Ameixoeira, of the Quinta do Arneiro. According to the supplicant, he administrates all the estate belonging to the chapel founded by Vicente Eanes Forjaz in the church of São Miguel of Alcainça. The latter also bequeathed the Quinta of Arneiro which was unlawfully possessed without title by Diogo de Abreu, clergyman, since the administration belonged to the Crown. The king orders the delivery of the administration of the Quinta do Arneiro to João Forjaz, upon verification the truth of his statements: the belonging of its administration to the chapel, its alienation by Diogo de Abreu and the royal right to appoint the administrator.

Administration letter

Administration letter on behalf of João Forjaz, morador na Ameixoeira of the administration of the Quinta do Arneiro, on the outskirts of Torres Vedras. This property was given by Vicente Eanes to Álvaro Dias, son of Diogo Bartolomeu, with the charge of maintaining a masse as determined by the institutor will. Due to his death, this farm passed to the administration of a descendant of the institutor, who gave it as a debt payment to Diogo de Abreu. Because he was a cleric not from the institutor’s lineage and didn’t had a legitimate title of possession nor fulfil the institutor’s charges, the administration of the property fell vacant to the Crown. After having seen a previous deed signed by him (a «prazme» deed) and the compromisso, the kings give the administration of the farm to the abovementioned João Forjaz. According to the monarch, the latter is different from the administration of São Silvestre instituted by the same Vicente Eanes in the parochial church of Alcainça.
