Codicil

Codicil made by António Lopes de Faria in which he changed a single clause regarding the assets left on his will, and divided them among his nephew Pedro de Faria and his wife Maria da Costa; he also ordered that the Altar de Santana, in the church of N. Sra. do Rosário, should always be sustained with the entail's income.

Court sentence

Court sentence issued by the Vigário Geral da Diocese de Angra, confirming a Papal brief issued on behalf of António de Faria, administrator of the entail founded by his brother, António Lopes de Faria, allowing him to celebrate the perpetual masses obligation for the soul of their father in the church of N. Sra. do Rosário of Lagoa, in S. Miguel island, instead of Vila do Conde, for the great costs he would have by doing that at distance.

Will chart

Will chart made by António Lopes de Faria in which he ordered, among several other dispositions, the foundation of an entail in Vila da Praia with a perpetual obligation of chapel of masses in the hermitage of N. Sra. do Rosário. He appointed his nephew Pedro de Faria as first administrator of the entail and always, preferably, the eldest male heir after him. If Pedro dies without descendants, the administration should be given to António de Faria or the closest relative. He ordered that the administrator should give yearly 1 000 cruzados to the Confraria de Nossa Senhora do Rosário and 10 cruzados to his poorest relatives. He ordered that all the administrators should bear the surname "Faria" or otherwise lose the administration. Finally, he recommended that his nephews should always nourish friendship between them and with the people of Lagoa, conserving the manners of the land and not those of their original lan, Vila do Conde. He also mentioned that his father founded a chapel in Vila do Conde and therefore the administrator of this newly founded entail should administrate both of them.
