Exemplification

Exemplification containing the will of D. Joana da Silva (1517-10-11), an approval and addition deed of the same testament (1517-10-11) and an addition and donation deed of the entail (1518-03-24), done by Vasco Eanes Côrte-Real in favor of Manuel Côrte-Real and D. Beatriz de Mendonça, his son and daughter-in-law.

Exemplification of a letter-of-attorney

Exemplification of a letter-of-attorney made at the request of D. Rodrigo Henriques, physician, by which D. Leonor de Moura-Côrte-Real and D. Carlos Homo-dei de Moura Pacheco, her husband, gave power to D. Rodrigo Henriques to demand D. Joana Côrte-Real and her heirs, who administer the Côrte-Real entail, in which D. Luís Coutinho, her son, was intruder, and all other people who could claim a right to the properties which the marqueses have in Portugal, and to act in all matters pertaining the possession of these properties.

Lease deed

Lease deed between D. Carlos Homo-dei de Moura Pacheco, his wife, D. Leonor de Moura Côrte-Real, marqueses de Castelo Rodrigo and Almonazir, living in Milão, and Simão Henriques de Andrade, businessman in Lisboa, by which they lease him for 9 years, the rents of their properties in Queluz and Belas, under the condition that he shall pay the obligations of 46 000 reis of masses in their chapel in the church of S. Francisco of Lisboa, to which they are entailed. Simão Henriques de Andrade, afterwards, passed these rents and obligations, with others he had acquired, to Pedro Álvares Caldas, fidalgo da Casa Real, in a escritura de trespasse dated 1683-04-22, which follows this lease deed (fls. 38-40).

Royal sentence

Royal sentence by which Manuel Côrte-Real and D. Beatriz de Mendonça, his wife, administrators of the chapel established by Vasco Eanes Côrte-Real and D. Joana da Silva in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, are ordered to pay the obligations they owe to the chapel with the revenue of the casal de Grajal, in Belas, entailed to it, even though the administrator, in his will, says he will forgive the administrators if they don't order the masses.
Contains undated sentences and dispatches explaining that the payments had ceased from 1544 onwards, because there wasn't enough revenue, due to the sterility of the land entailed to the chapel. Because of this, Manuel Côrte-Real was ordered to show proof of the revenue, so that the debt corresponding to those years should be discounted, and that he should make payments with the current revenue.

Will

Will by which D. Joana da Silva established an entail with all of her immovable goods on the islands of Terceira and S. Jorge, and designated her firstborn son Cristóvão Côrte-Real to be its administrator.

Silva, Joana da (flor.1517)

Will

Will by which D. Cristóvão de Moura Côrte-Real and his wife, D. Margarida de Côrte-Real, marqueses de Castelo Rodrigo, express their will to be buried in the chapel of the Côrte-Reais, in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, which belongs to the entail administered by D. Margarida, if, by the time of their deaths, they haven't appointed another place. They establish a daily mass for their souls in that chapel, entailing to it the casal do Garajau, which is already entailed to another perpetual daily mass in the same chapel, and ask that Cristóvão's parents, who are buried in the monastery of Carmo and in the convent of S. Francisco, be transfered to the same chapel.
They then ask the king to confirm the entail of the Moura, which they establish. This entail shall be inherited by their eldest son, and his successors thereafter, together with the entail of the Côrte-Reais, unless the lineage of D. Cristóvão and D. Margarida is extinguished. In that case, the two entails shall be separated. If the Moura entail is separated from the entail of the Côrte-Reais, the heirs of the Côrte-Reais shall have the houses in Lisboa which belong to the Moura entail, however they'll have to pay their revenue to the successors of the Moura line. The line of the Côrte-Reais shall also keep the capitania da Praia, in the island of Terceira, which D. Cristóvão had received from the king.
Followed by approval deed dated 1609-02-14, opening deed dated 1614-01-02 and instrumento de justificação dated 1614-02-18.

Joana da Silva, in the chapel of Henrique da Silveira, their brother-in-law, in the convent of S. Francisco of Xabregas, while the chapel he is building isn't finished. He orders that his son, Manuel de Côrte-Real, builds a chapel for him and his wife in either the convent of S. Francisco of Xabregas or in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, to which he entails his casal of Grajal, in Belas, with the same obligations as established in his wife's will.
