Court proceedings (partial)

Court sentence judging a lawsuit brought by D. Francisco Soares de Alarcão against the Conde de Avintes, regarding the succession of the entails instituted by Rui Gomes de Alvarenga, Gomes Soares and Fernando de Melo. The defendant is recognized as the rightful administrator of the three entails. Although D. Francisco Soares de Alarcão was the son of their last administrator, D. João Soares de Alarcão, he and his father fled Portugal in 1640, being accused of betraying the King and of collaborating with the enemy.

Donation deed

Donation deed by which Doutor Rui Gomes de Alvarenga, do Conselho do Rei, Chanceler-mor, and D. Mécia de Melo, his wife, donated properties in Alenquer ("casal da Pipa") and lands (estins) in Salvaterra de Magos to the convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça, asking its friars to celebrate a weekly mass for their souls in perpetuity over their graves. The friars would also be responsible for repairing the railings that would protect their graves. The provincial of the order, the prior and friars of the convent accepted the terms of this deed.

Letter of possession

Letter of possession by which Frei Fernando Ferreira, attorney of the convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça of Lisboa, took possession of properties (estins) in Salvaterra de Magos, which were given to the convent by Rui Gomes de Alvarenga and D. Mécia de Melo.

Licence

Licence granted by D. Afonso V to Doutor Rui Gomes de Alvarenga and his wife, D. Mécia de Melo, allowing them to entail assets appraised at 100 000 reais brancos to the chapel they instituted in the convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça.
