Annexation deed

Annexation deed by which Cristóvão Mendes de Eça and his wife, D. Filipa de Gouveia, entailed lands in Carvalhal and in Tondela to the entail established by Francisco Mendes Cardoso and Isabel Pais de Barros in substitution of houses and vineyards in Guarda which had belonged to it. Isabel Pais de Barros confirmed the entail foundation deed's clauses and declared that if any administrator of the entail committed a crime of lèse-majesté, he would loose the right to administrate it 3 days before doing so.

Codicil by which Isabel Pais de Barros confirmed the foundation of the entail she and her late brother, Francisco Mendes, had made. She declared that her body would be buried in her parents' grave, inside the church of S. Pedro of Molelos. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1662-05-20.

Declaration deed

Declaration deed by which Francisco Mendes excluded his nephew, Cristóvão Mendes de Eça, from his entail's succession, since he had married against his uncle's will. The entail would be administrated by the testator's sister, Isabel Pais de Barros, during her lifetime and afterwards transmitted to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Viseu. By doing so, Francisco Mendes revoked all the clauses of the entail foundation deed.

Dowry deed

Dowry deed by which Francisco Gouveia de Altero gave the administration of the chapel of Santa Catarina de Vila Rei, to which was entailed the farmstead that had belonged to Tomé de Gouveia Cardoso, his father, and the legitime left by his late wife to his daughter, D. Filipa Correia, who was going to marry Cristóvão Mendes de Eça. Isabel Pais de Barros donated 2 500 cruzados to her niece, D. Filipa, as well as all her properties and moveable assets. By doing so, she revoked the will written by his brother, Francisco Mendes, and her, in 1642. Cristóvão Mendes de Eça gave his approval to this deed, declaring that, if, at the time of his death, the couple left no descendants, 300 000 réis would be delivered to his future wife.

Petition

Petition by which Cristóvão Mendes de Eça asked permission to entail lands in Carvalhal and in Tondela to the entail established by Francisco Mendes and Isabel Pais de Barros and to sell houses and vineyards in Guarda, previously incorporated in it. Followed by a dispatch issued in July 1650 and a subrogation warrant dated 1650-07-20, already described in VINC002652 FMIPB EA/001a.

Revocation deed

Revocation deed by which Isabel Pais de Barros and the beneficiado Tomé de Gouveia de Altero, acting as representative of D. Filipa de Lacerda, his sister, and Cristóvão Mendes de Eça, revoked part of the dowry deed issued on 1649-07-04. Isabel Pais de Barros confirmed the will she and her brother, Francisco Mendes, had made in 1642 and the creation of the entail they had established. She gave a dowry of 1 conto de réis to the bride and groom. Contains a copy of a letter of attorney.

Will by which Cristóvão Mendes de Eça and his wife, D. Filipa de Lacerda, designated Manuel Mendes de Eça, their only son, to administrate the chapel of Santa Catarina de Vila Rei, incorporating in it lands in Castro Daire ("prazo de Lamelas") and mills in Preguiça. They also entailed an olive grove (olival) and other lands in Alvelos ("prazo no Eiró de Alvelos"), properties in Tarouca ("prazo das Aldeias de Tarouca"), their farmstead and assets in Tondela to Francisco Mendes and Isabel Pais de Barros' entail, which they administrated. They declared that their bodies had to be buried in the grave of Cristóvão Mendes de Eça's father. Followed by a certificate and two acknowledgment records.

Will

Will by which Francisco Mendes, Arcediago de Celorico, Cónego da Sé da Guarda, and his sister, Isabel Pais de Barros, established a chapel and an entail, incorporating in it the farmstead (quinta) of Molelinhos, rents (foros) and other properties in Molelos, houses in Guarda and their silver tableware. They appointed Cristóvão Mendes de Eça, their nephew, to administrate it, declaring that the entail would be transmitted to one of his sons. The future administrators were obligated to support the celebration of 80 annual masses for the institutors' souls in the church of Molelos or in the church of Molelinhos.

Will by which Francisco Mendes revoked the declaration deed issued on 1646-08-02 and determined that Cristóvão Mendes de Eça and his descendants should administrate the entail he and his sister had established. He declared that his body would be buried in the cathedral of Guarda, inside his uncle's grave. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1649-02-12, an opening deed dated 1649-02-14 and a letter of quittance concerning the legacies of this will issued on 1649-02-23.
