Subrogation deed by António Cabral de Carvalho, attorney-in-fact of Garcia de Melo and D. Isabel de Castro, his wife, detaching the houses of Calçada do Combro from the entail founded by Belchior Pais and subrogating and entailing instead of them two salt pans, in front of his farmstead of Granja de Alpriate, in the outskirts of Lisbon, worthing the entailed 889.446 réis, and 1 conto and 10.595 réis. Licenciado António dos Santos e Oliveira, curator and tutor of Francisco de Melo, son of Garcia de Melo and his successor in the entail administration, and Custódio Monteiro de Andrade, procurador das capelas in Lisbon and its outskirts, approved this subrogation deed.

Will (extract) of Belchior Pais bequeathing an amount of money to buy a public debt instrument of 150.000 réis to D. Beatriz Henriques, his aunt, daughter of Manuel de Melo, monteiro-mor, and of D. Guiomar Henriques, to enjoy in their lives. After the death of Guiomar Henriques, Beatriz Henriques will bequeath 40.000 réis to her religious sisters and, after their deaths, the total amount of 150.000 réis will be delivered to Padre André Coutinho to free from debt the houses of Cobertos. If these houses are release from the interest, they should give 20.000 réis, per year, to the monastery of S. Francisco of Lisbon to mass celebration for the soul of Manuel de Melo.
