Exemplification of a will chart by Padre Manuel de Sousa Novais written by António Gonçalves Pereira, notary, to give to Padre Manuel de Sousa Novais, executor and administrator.
Contains: approval deed, dated from 1662-05-23, and opening deed of a will, dated from 1665-05-23.

Will chart

Will chart by which Clara de Sousa, widow of António da Mota, wanted to be buried in the Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário, in the Convent of São Francisco, in Vila Franca do Campo. She bequeathed some lands to her nephew, Manuel de Sousa, with the pious obligation of a half of a chapel, and to her brother, Gaspar da Ponte, with the obligation of three annual masses. Gaspar da Ponte will be succeeded by his son, Manuel de Sousa, who will be succeeded by his sister, Isabel de Sousa, and her offspring, with the pious obligation of a chapel. Will approved in 1614-05-07 and opened in 1615-12-27.

Will chart of Padre Manuel de Sousa Novais expressing his wish to be buried in the church of S. Pedro of Vila Franca do Campo and establishing four chapels, two for his niece, Lúcia do Quintal, composed of a rent of ten moios of wheat, and two for his nephews, Padre Manuel de Sousa and Padre Miguel Tavares, composed of all his leases and farmlands. He also bequeaths his house to his nephew, Padre Manuel de Sousa, and, after his death, to Padre Miguel Tavares and, after his death, to Lúcia do Quintal, with the pious obligation of half of a chapel. Besides, he appoints Misericórdia of Ponta Delgada as his successor in the administration of some properties entailed to his aunt's, Clara de Sousa, chapel, because his sister, Isabel de Sousa, died young. He also appoints his nephew, Padre Manuel de Sousa, as his successor in the administration of a "serrado" entailed to half of a chapel in the monastery of S. Francisco, also founded by his aunt, Clara de Sousa. This will mentions the entails of Susana Afonso Furtado and Catarina Manuel Pimentel, the testator's grandmother.
