Will chart

Will chart by which Martinho Esteves left his possessions, located in Lisbon and Alenquer, to his nephews Constança, Beatriz and Nuno. They were due to order the celebration of masses in the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora. After their deaths, it should succeed the eldest son of the last one that would die.

Esteves, Martinho (d.1347)

Will (extract)

Will (extract) by which cónego Nuno da Cunha de Eça establishes an entail with his properties, including his Quinta da Bica, in Nossa Senhora dos Olivais, Lisboa. This entail shall always be joined to the entail established by Martinho Esteves in Quinta da Pipa, in the same parish. He appoints as his heir his great-nephew, Luís Álvares da Cunha de Eça, of whom he is the tutor and curator, and who is the administrator of the entail of Quinta da Pipa. He establishes an obligation of 5 000 reis of masses and a lamp in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa and the celebration of masses of the Martinho Esteves' chapel in the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora. He also entails a public debt instrument to a chapel of ecclesiastical administration in the Cathedral of Lisboa.
