Partition deed

Partition deed of the assets left by D. Francisca Borges de Meneses, made between António Ribeiro de Barros, fidalgo da Casa do Rei, her widower, and Aires de Saldanha de Sousa, her second-cousin and universal heir, cavaleiro professo da Ordem de Cristo and mestre de campo de um terço no Alentejo.
It is established that António Ribeiro de Barros retains the possession of the entail and other assets he had inherited from his mother, D. Violante Ribeiro, as a dowry, when he married, with the hermitage of S. José which he and his wife had built in the farmstead of Pêra-Manca.
Aires de Saldanha de Sousa shall have the administraton of the chapel of Jesus, established by Manuel de Almeida and his wife, Beatriz Pinheiro, in the convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça of Lisboa, which D. Francisca had inherited from her uncle, D. António Telo de Meneses. António Ribeiro de Barros and Aires de Saldanha de Sousa trade the properties entailed to this chapel from the houses previously entailed to it for a farmstead on the way to Queluz and wheat in Salvaterra de Magos, which he and his wife had bought.
Measures are taken to found the convent in Torre de Moncorvo which D. Francisca had ordered in her will and codicil, which should have rents from the entail in Peredo, which she possessed. Aires de Saldanha shall also have the administration of the entail D. Francisca founded in her will, to which he annexes her properties in Santarém. The entail of the farmstead of Colmeeiro in the parish of Alcorochel, Torres Novas, in which she had established pious obligations, is also mentioned.
It is declared Francisca Borges de Meneses died in 1665-04-10.
Contains a copy of the will and codicil of D. Francisca Borges de Meneses, dated 1661-11-21 and 1665-04-09.

Francisca Borges de Meneses, wife of António Ribeiro de Barros, establishes an entail with the remaining part of her properties, with the obligation of giving wax to the church near her farmstead of Colmeeiro, Torres Novas, and to the convent of Salvador de Évora, while the convent she wishes to establish in Torre de Moncorvo, near the place of Peredo, which she possesses, isn't built. She lists which properties are hers, and which belong to the entail of her husband, António Ribeiro de Barros. She appoints her second-cousin, Aires de Saldanha de Sousa, as her universal heir, bequeathing him her entail and the chapel of Nossa Senhora de Jesus in the convent of Nossa Senhora da Graça of Lisboa, of which she was the administrator. He can appoint the next administrator among his descendants. If he dies without successors, the entail shall pass to Francisca's other cousin, Aires de Sousa de Castro, in the same way. She expresses her wish to be buried in her chapel of Jesus while the convent of Carmelitas she and her husband wish to establish isn't built.
Followed by the approval deed of the will and its opening deed, dated 1665-04-19.
