Auto

Auto issued by Manuel Estácio do Amaral, provedor dos órfãos, capelas, confrarias, hospitais, albergarias, gafarias e resíduos da comarca das ilhas de baixo, in Azores, declaring that Francisco Pereira Sarmento and his wife, Luísa de Barros, son-in-law and daughter of Maria de Bairros and administrators of her available portion, bind half of a moio of wheat of a rent paid by João Gaspar to fulfil the bequest and pious obligation ordered by Maria de Bairros orally at the time of her death. According to Francisco Pereira Sarmento, Maria de Bairros did not write a will and only declared, before many witnesses and her only daughter, that she bequeathed her available portion to her son-in-law with the pious obligation of the celebration of the three Christmas masses, every year, for her and her husband's, Francisco da Silva, souls.
