Approval deed

Approval deed of the delivery of previous assets to Branca de Lopes, daughter of João de Pontes, issued by João Rodrigues de Bulhão, juiz ordinário of Benavente.
It follows the exemplification of various documents prior to the establishment of the entail, namely a deed of sale (1521-06-05, fl.13v-14), a carta de arrematação (1521-06-21, fl.14v-15); an exemplification of a royal sentence judging a process between Margarida Rodrigues, plaintiff, against Duarte Afonso, her husband, defendant, and a letter of possession given to Margarida Rodrigues, made at the request of João de Pontes (1521-11-08 fl.15v-17); a deed of sale (1515-09-13, fl.17v-18); an exchange deed (1516-06-20, fl.18v-19); a deed of sales (1527-04-12, fl.19v-21v); a deed of sale (1525-11-25, fl.21v-23); a deed of sale(1508-12-13, fl.23-24); a deed of sale (1502-08-16, fl.24-26); a deed of sale (1534-01-24, fl.26-27); an acknowledgment record (1522-01-20, fl.27-27v) and a deed of sale (1531-02-25, fl.27v-29).
It follows also a royal sentence, on behalf of D. Sebastião, in favor of the judge and oficiais of the Benavente's council (1564-01-13, fl.29-32) and an agreement by the Benavente's council concerning the administration of the chapel (fl. 33-35).

Royal sentence

Royal sentence, on behalf of D. Henrique, judging a process between Álvaro Lucas, substituted by Rodrigo Lucas, plaintiff, against António Quaresma, defendant, on the administration of the entail instituted by João de Pontes. The Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Benavente and the municipality of Benavente were opponents.
The sentence confirms an earlier one, handed down by the corregedor da comarca and dated 1577-05-13, in which it recognizes that, according to the institution, the administration was the responsibility of the municipality of Benavente.

Will chart

Will chart by which the priest João de Pontes established an entail, using all his property, furniture and immovables. He designated his daughter Branca and her descendants to be his heirs. If his daughter did not have children, the administration would pass to the Hospital of Benavente, which was under the responsibility of the Council. Followed by a list of the entailed properties.
