Appointment letter

Appointment letter by which Domingos Mendes and Tomás Rodrigues Vinagre appoint Belchior de Lemos and Manuel Sucedo Caldeira as arbitrator judges, in the case concerning the assets of the chapels instituted by Leonor Afonso and João Vaz Bolor, which opposed them and which was being held in the Juízo dos Corregedores do cível da Corte. Maria Fialho, wife of Domingos Mendes, and Inês Lourenço, wife of Tomás Rodrigues Vinagre, also give their consent.
Followed by an oath conferred by Afonso Gomes do Prado, juiz ordinário of Vila de Frades, to Belchior de Lemos and Manuel Sucedo Caldeira (dated 1652-04-15).

Court sentence, issued by Belchior de Lemos and Manuel Sucedo Caldeira, judging a civil process between Leonor Rodrigues against Tomás Rodrigues Vinagre and his wife, concerning the assets of the chapels established by Leonor Afonso and João Vaz Bolor. The plaintiff was replaced by Domingos Mendes, her nephew.
Contains the questions presented in the libel of accusation, as well as a reference to the content of the institutor's will.
The sentence recognizes that the plaintiffs are the rightful administrators of the chapels and that the defendants are the rightful owners of the properties judged. It determines that the defendants must pay the plaintiffs an income of 200 réis for each vines.
