Subrogation deed

Subrogation deed between Luís Álvares de Sousa, Mestre de Campo dos Auxiliares da Comarca de Beja, Manuel de Sousa Viegas, his nephew and future successor, and the abbot Diogo Rodrigues de Moura, through which the former sold houses located in Santa Justa, in Lisboa, and lands in S. João da Talha to the latter. Luís Álvares de Sousa was administrator of the entail founded by António Cordovil, and decided to sell the said properties and to incorporate in the entail, in their place, his farmstead of Torre (herdade), located in the outskirts of Beja. It is followed by a court sentence in which the subrogation deed is approved issued on 1695-10-23.

Subrogation warrant allowing Luís Álvares de Sousa to sell some of the entail's properties located in Lisboa and S. João da Talha to the abbot Diogo Rodrigues de Moura, and to transfer the pious obligations associated to those assets to his farmstead of Torre (herdade), located in the outskirts of Beja.

Will chart by which António Cordovil institutes an entail, by entailing assets for the fulfillment of pious charges. He appoints Francisco Cordovil, his legitimate son, as its first administrator. He chose to be buried in the grave where lied his sister, Maria Cordovil, in the chapel of Jesus of the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa.
