Chapel foundation deed

Chapel foundation deed by which Manuel Guterres, Fidalgo da Casa do Rei, on behalf of Fernando Pires de Sousa, clérigo, his uncle, established a chapel in the church of S. Julião of Lisboa, entailing to it a public debt instrument of 40 000 réis in Estanco do Tabaco, whose revenues would support the celebration of a daily perpetual mass for the institutor's soul. The first chaplain had to be designated by Pedro de Sousa, the entail's first administrator. The latter committed himself to fulfil the institutor's will.

Letter of attorney

Letter of attorney by which Fernando Pires de Sousa, clérigo, resident in Roma, authorizes his nephew, Manuel Guterres, to establish a chapel on his behalf in the church of S. Julião of Lisboa.
Followed by a copy of an extract of a letter, written in 1668, in which Fernando Pires de Sousa expresses his wish to establish a chapel in the church of S. Julião of Lisboa, where he was baptized, to which he wanted to entail a public debt instrument of 40 000 réis. He declares that his nephew, Pedro de Sousa, should be its first administrator, to whom would succeed his other nephew, Manuel Guterres. He orders the latter to make an agreement with the priests of that church.
