Contract and bond deed

Contract and bond deed by which the administrator, Paulo António de Matos, provedor dos Contos do Reino e Casa and the institutor's uncle, declared that he wanted to contract with the nuns of the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Anunciada to have the chapel of São Domingos in his church. The administrator gave to the nuns 350 000 réis and they obligated themselves to ornate the chapel and to celebrate masses for the institutor's soul. This document has inserted a license dated 1618-07-15 and a letter of possession dated 1618-07-21.

José street, in Lisboa, for some noble houses that he owns in Cordoaria Velha street, worthing 90.000 réis of income, which will become entailed to the chapel. The piece of thistle field yield 20.000 réis per year, but is an uncertain income because sometimes it isn't leased.

Will by which Francisco de Matos Soeiro, cavaleiro da Ordem de Cristo and provedor dos Contos do Reino e Casa, designated his eldest son Luís de Matos to succeed into his cousin Marcos de Almeida's entail. He also designated his son António de Matos to succeed into his sister Maria Soeiro's chapel. He declared that his sister Maria Soeiro took possession of his mother Maria Dinis de Padilha's third and that afterwards it was transmitted to him and to his heirs. Finally, the institutor declared that Martim Barroso founded a chapel in the Convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo and that his brother Francisco Barroso was its administrator. If Francisco Barroso died childless, all his assets should be incorporated into Marcos de Almeida's entail. Followed by an approval deed dated 1670-05-15.

Will (extract) by which Marcos de Almeida established an entail, designating his sister D. Antónia de Almeida, wife of Rui Gonçalves Maracote, to be its first administrator. The institutor ordered the purchase of a chapel, the payment of 30 000 réis to a chaplain and the celebration of masses for his soul in the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Anunciada. The institutor also left some legacies for the remission of captives to the Misericórdia of Lisboa. This entail should be succeed by the eldest son or, in his absence, by the closest kin and its properties are composed of houses in Lisboa, and a "cardal" and a farm located in Azambujal.
