Approval deed approving the will of Garcia de Ávila in which he ordered, among several other dispositions, the foundation of a chapel in his farm of Torre.

Composition deed

Composition deed made between Francisco Dias de Ávila, administrator of the chapel founded by Garcia de Ávila, and the abbot and other monks of the monastery of São Bento of Baía settling a judicial demand between them regarding the inheritance of the properties left by Garcia de Ávila on his will. The monks compromised to fulfill and pray the perpetual three weekly masses obligation, left on the institutor's will, as long as Francisco Dias de Ávila agreed to pay 4.000 cruzados to the monastery, give them a cattle ranch in Itapicurú and take full responsability for two judicial demands they had with the Santa Casa de Misericórdia.

Exemplification of a composition deed made between Francisco Dias de Ávila, administrator of the chapel founded by Garcia de Ávila, and the abbot and other monks of the monastery of São Bento of Baía.

Will

Will of Garcia de Ávila ordering, among several other dispositions, the foundation of a chapel in his farm of Torre, with an obligation of three weekly masses and a mass in every holiday, naming his grandson Francisco Dias de Ávila as administrator. He disposed that if the chapel would become in anyway promoted to a church and parish the masses obligation would be reduced to only two masses. He also ordered that all the free indigenous people that lived on the farm should be able to keep and defend the port of the farm, being this clause observed by the Governor and other justice officers of the land. The chaplain would have the particular obligation of catechize them and ensure that they were well treated.
