Will (extract) by which Daniel de Arnide appoints his cousin Maria Madalena de Valasco, daughter of Antão Mogo de Melo and of Ângela de Valasco, as his universal heir, with the condition that she shall order his burial in the monastery of Santo Onofre, and afterwards, his trasladation to the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, where his parents are buried. He also establishes a chapel with two daily masses for the souls of his parents, Miguel de Arnide and Camila Gomes Pais, and his brother. He bequeaths her all of his assets, which, after her death, shall be given to the Misericórdia de Lisboa, to be sold, so a public debt instrument can be bought in the Alfândega de Lisboa, to entail to the chapel.

He entails a vineyard and properties he bought to the chapel, with the obligation of six annual masses, and orders the acquisition of more properties to establish a daily mass for the souls of his relatives. He also orders his wife to establish a daily mass for his, his son and his relative's souls, in a church or convent of her choosing, with the capacity to appoint any person she wants as its administrator, after her death.

He entails to it rents in the value of 1 000 cruzados, to be employed in the acquisition of interest and properties for the chapel. He appoints his niece, D. Maria Mancelos, daughter of D. Isabel de Leão, as the chapel's first administrator, under the condition that she shall entail to it the properties she will inherit from her mother and grandmother. Her successors shall also annex to the entail a third of the third part of their inheritances. If D. Maria dies without descendants, the entail shall be inherited by her sister, D. Isabel. If the family line is extinguished, the obligation will be bequeathed to the Misericórdia of Coimbra.

To administrate it she named André Álvares, son of capitão Jorge Araújo de Maqueimas, with the condition that he would marry, or otherwise, the administration would be transmitted to his sister Isabel Barradas. Will (extract) made by Cecília Fernandes in which she ordered the foundation of a chapel composed of farms and twenty enslaved persons, among men and women, and a perpetual pious obligation of one sung mass and also twelve masses, one per month, all of them celebrated as long as the world lasted. To administrate it, she named her nephew Sebastião Pires de Barros during his lifetime. After the death of Sebastião, the succession should always continue on his heirs, or, if he had none, the administration would be transmitted to his brothers or sisters, and if none of them was alive, then the Misericórdia of Cabo Verde would receive the administration. The institutor disposed that if any of the enslaved persons of the chapel died, they should be immediatly replaced with new ones.

Will (extract) made by Manuel Lobo Reimão in which he ordered the foundation of a chapel composed of a cotton plantation named Fazenda do Fragoso and twelve enslaved persons, over which he imposed a perpetual pious obligation of certain number of masses. He named his daughter Maria de Deus as first administrator during her lifetime and, after her death, the succession should always continue, preferably, on the eldest legitimate male heir. If she had none, the administration would be handled to her brother António, and if he also died without children, then his brothers Domingos or André da Veiga Reimão, in this order, would enter on the administration. If none of them had children, the chapel would be administrated by the brotherhood of Nossa Senhora do Livramento. The institutor also disposed that if any of the slaves entailed to this chapel died, they should be replaced, in order to maintain the original number, and any administrator who freed any enslaved persons would immediatly lose the administration, passing it to the next administrator in line.

Will (extract) by which João Gonçalves bequeathed houses in Rua da Pelada, Lisboa, to Margarida Gonçalves, his niece, obligating her to spend, every year, 5 000 réis in the celebration of annual masses in the church of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires, where his body would be buried. The brotherhood of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires had to guarantee that the pious obligations would be duly fulfilled. These houses would always be linked to that pious charge, even if they were sold or transmitted to someone else. Until Margarida married, the houses would be owned by her mother.
It is declared that those assets had been given to the testator by his late wife, who asked him to leave them to his niece.
