Carta patente of Frei Pedro Gonçalves de Mendonça, provincial minister of the Province of Portugal, recognizing the right of D. António de Lima, D. Ana de Lima, her daughter, D. António de Ataíde, her husband, and their children and descendants, to be buried in the chancel of the Convent of São Francisco of Lisboa and to be perpetual administrators of that chapel, in order to know if the charges that D. Manuel de Lima had left there were fulfilled. D. Ana de Lima and D. António de Ataíde, her husband, undertake to help the convent to decorate the chapel.

Contract and bond deed

Contract and bond deed between Jorge da Silva, Duarte de Melo, padre Frei António do Casal and Duarte Cedreira, executors of D. Manuel de Lima, and the religious of the convent of São Francisco of Lisboa, so that D. Manuel de Lima was buried in the chancel of that convent, after having transferred the bones of the Duquesa of Bragança. There, D. Maria de Mendonça, widow of D. Manuel de Lima, and other persons named in the contract could also be buried, but no others. The religious are obliged to carry out charges, receiving, from the executors, various assets, included in the inventory. The legitimate descendants of Manuel de Lima were the administrators of the chapel, with the obligation to monitor the fulfillment of the charges.

Court sentence

Court sentence, issued by Doutor João Travassos, juiz e vigário-geral in the Archdiocese of Lisboa, judging as true the content of the information provided by D. António de Ataíde and D. Ana de Lima, his wife, for the issuance of a papal brief, issued by Pope Paul V. The supplicants are authorized, like their descendants, to be buried in the chancel of the Convent of São Francisco of Lisboa.
