Will by which Helena de Castro expresses her wish of being buried at the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa, and appoints her husband, Inácio Vieira da Maia, as her universal heir. After Inácio’s death, the houses, which belonged to her aunt Luísa Bento, will be handed to her cousin, Bento Gonçalves de Sequeira, as a payment of a debt, and he must accomplish a set of pious charges for her aunt’s soul and for her own at the church of the Nossa Senhora dos Mártires or at the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa. After Bento’s death, these properties should pass to his children and their heirs with the same pious obligations and other conditions which are mentioned.
Helena de Castro also leaves to her husband five lime kilns with pious obligations for her soul at the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa, detailing all the conditions. After her husband’s death, at list half of these assets must be handed to the priests to ensure the perpetual pious charges she established.
It is followed by an approval deed (dated 1616-04-17) and a certificate of an opening deed of will (dated 1616-04-26).
