Scope and content
Will (extract) by which Beatriz Duarte de Oliveira, Jorge Leitão's widow, ordered the acquisition of a rent (foro) of 4 cântaros of olive oil in order to support the perpetual lighting of a lamp in the chapel of Santíssimo Sacramento of the convent of Nossa Senhora da Rosa of Lisboa. She indicated that her husband had established a chapel in that convent, entailing to it stores in Rua Nova, and asked their daughter, Soror Joana de Jesus, to choose a chaplain to celebrate a perpetual daily mass for his soul.
The testator instituted another chapel in that convent, entailing to it his public debt instruments. She determined that Padre António de Sequeira would be its chaplain and that Jerónimo Leitão, her husband's nephew, would administrate both chapels. He had the obligation to give, each year, 20 000 réis to her daughter, only during her lifetime. After his death, the chapels would be administrated by António, his son, and subsequently transmitted to his descendants.
