Will (extract) in which Maior Pacheco bequeaths a third of her assets to her son Francisco das Póvoas with the obligation to fulfil pious charges for her soul at the convent of Nossa Senhora do Carmo de Lisboa. She specifies that her third should be composed of the houses near the sea, that she had already donated to Francisco during his lifetime, and her share of the Quinta da Marinha on the outskirts of Alenquer. However, if the value of the Quinta da Marinha exceeds that of the remaining part of her third, she proposes an alternative solution for dividing the shares after her death. The testator states that her son may pass these properties on to his descendants in any manner he wishes, eventually as an entail to his heir. In any case, the perpetual masses she establishes for her soul must always be fulfilled.
