Deed of sale celebrated between João de Benevides, saler, and João Dias de Andrade, purchaser, of an entailed property that belonged to the entail founded by Catarina Álvares Coelho, wife of Francisco Gonçalves, nicknamed Pé de Galinha, with a chapel of masses celebrated in the church of the Misericórdia of Angra. This sale was possible because the chapel founded by Catarina Álvares Coelho did not have the clause that forbade the indivisibility of entailed assets, and also because the succession of the chapel was regulated by election or appointment. Therefore, João de Benevides not only sold the properties but also appointed João Dias de Andrade as administrator of the chapel, with the obligation of celebrating the masses ordered by Catarina Álvares Coelho.
