Will (extract) by which Francisco de Torres and his wife, D. Maria Henriques, establish an obligation of two weekly masses for their souls in the chapel of Todos os Santos of the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, ordered by Afonso de Torres, Francisco's father. If their entail goes to a descendant from a transversal line, the obligations shall be two daily masses for the soul of Afonso de Torres and their own souls.

Followed by a note from Doutor Gaspar de Mere de Sousa, informing that he signed the book where the tombo will be written, dated from 1669-11-21.

Sentence

Sentence finishing the motion set upon the chapel of Afonso de Torres by its administrator, Luís de Sousa, who is ordered to pay the obligations he owed as a descendant from a colateral line. Francisco de Torres and his wife, D. Maria Henriques, had established a chapel in the name of Afonso de Torres, their father and father-in-law, who had died before making a contract, with an obligation of two weekly masses in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa. If the entail was inherited by a descendant from a colateral line, the obligations would change to two daily masses. Luís de Sousa had inherited the entail from its last descendant from a direct line, D. Briolanja.

Court sentence justifying that the public debt instrument of 131.000 réis belongs to Garcia de Melo de Torres, son of Francisco de Melo, marquês de Sande, which were bought by Duarte de Melo, uncle and tutor of Afonso de Torres, grandfather of Garcia de Melo de Torres and institutor of the entail of Torres.
