Luísa da Fonseca entail

Declaration deed

Declaration deed by which Manuel Correia dos Santos, escrivão do Juízo das Capelas, declares that the interest entailed to D. Luísa da Fonseca's chapel was reduced to 40 000 reis in the almoxarifado of Elvas, according to a public debt instrument presented by Domingos Ferreira de Sousa. This declaration deed is followed by another one, by the same notary, informing that he saw other documentation related to this entail, including subrogation deeds and public debt instruments dated 1605 and 1670, in the autos da capela. This documents, however, aren't copied in the tombo.

Luísa da Fonseca entail

Will chart (extract)

Will chart (extract) by which D. Luísa da Fonseca bequeaths her daughter, D. Joana da Fonseca, and her descendants thereafter, 50 000 reis of interest in the alfândega of Lisboa, with the obligation of a weekly mass in the convent of S. Francisco of Lisboa, where she shall be buried. If her family line is extinguished, the last administrator of her entail shall choose a new burial place for her and her family, and deliver the interest to the priests and beneficiaries of that church, with the obligation of four weekly masses and nine masses in November for their souls. If D. Joana da Fonseca dies before D. Luísa, and has no descendants, D. Luísa's husband, Rodrigo Sanches, will become the administrator of the entail.
