Codicil

Codicil by which Francisco Rodrigues de Elvas, Brianda Nunes' husband, revokes what he had declared in his will and decides that the revenues of his houses in Lisboa should not support the celebration of annual masses in the convent of S. Domingos of Lisboa. Subsequently, he asks his wife to reach an agreement with the friars of that convent, in order to assure that the 24 annual masses for his soul would be celebrated, and to link the pious obligations to a property or a public debt instrument. Followed by an approval deed issued on 1587-10-23.

Contract and bond deed

Contract and bond deed by which the friars of the convent of S. Domingos donated to Brianda Nunes, Francisco Rodrigues de Elvas' widow, and her sons, Gonçalo Rodrigues de Elvas and Nicolau Nunes de Elvas, the space for them to erect a chapel and family grave in the church of that convent, in exchange for 100 000 réis. Brianda, Gonçalo and Nicolau committed themselves to give the friars, each year, a public debt instrument of 54 000 réis, whose revenues would support the celebration of annual masses for their souls and those of Francisco Rodrigues de Elvas and Belchior Gomes, Brianda and Francisco's son. Thus, they followed the wishes expressed in Francisco and Belchior's wills, who already were buried in the chapter house of the referred convent. Contains the detailed description of the place where the chapel should be constructed.
