Codicil (extract)

Codicil (extract) made by Francisco Pires de Barros in which he disposed that if his daughter Cecília de Barros had no children, the administration of the chapel he founded on his will would be transmitted to his nephew António, son of his brother Pedro Francisco, and his successors. If António died without children, the administration would be handled to his father Pedro Francisco, and if he had no legitimate heirs, the administration would then be transmitted to the Misericórdia of Cabo Verde. The institutor also disposed that if any of the slaves entailed to this chapel died, they should be replaced, in order to maintain the original number.

Barros, Francisco Pires de (flor.[1650]-[1659])

Will (extract)

Will (extract) made by Francisco Pires de Barros in which he bequeathed his farm of Pico and all the slaves that could fit in his own reserved portion to his daughter Cecília de Barros, with the condition that she would marry, imposing a perpetual pious obligation of two masses celebrated every week as long as the world lasted over those assets. After the death of Cecília, her descendants would inherit those properties with the same conditions.
